Abstract

Digital libraries play a vital role in supporting education, research, and knowledge management; however, traditional systems often suffer from limited personalization, inefficient information retrieval, and inadequate semantic search capabilities. To address these challenges, this study proposes a Next Generation Digital Library Architecture that integrates Conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI), Intelligent Search Engines, Knowledge Graphs, Recommendation Systems, Metadata Management, Analytics, and Security Frameworks within a unified platform. The proposed architecture aims to enhance resource discovery, user interaction, and personalized information services while aligning with the principles of Library 5.0. A comprehensive review of recent literature was conducted to identify existing limitations and emerging technological trends in digital library systems. The proposed framework was evaluated using key performance indicators such as user satisfaction, search accuracy, information retrieval performance, recommendation effectiveness, and system usability. The results indicate significant improvements over conventional digital library systems, achieving user satisfaction of 92.6%, search accuracy of 92.0%, an F1-score of 0.92, recommendation effectiveness of 92%, and usability of 92%. The findings demonstrate that the integration of AI-driven technologies, semantic search, and knowledge graph-based discovery can substantially improve digital library performance, user experience, and information accessibility. The proposed architecture provides a scalable foundation for the development of future intelligent digital library ecosystems and supports the advancement of Library 5.0 initiatives.
